Good resolutions: 5 tips to keep them!

It was a different New Year's Eve than usual. One of the few things that was probably the same as last year: you solemnly prescribed some good intentions for yourself. And we are sure that you really, really intend to keep them this year. The reason why we make new resolutions every year, which often look suspiciously like the ones we made the year before, is because it is often difficult to keep them.

Do you have a New Year's resolution to work on your health and fitness? Then we would like to help you to keep these resolutions!

  1. Stay realistic

Nothing is more demotivating than chasing impossible goals. Never run before? Don't set yourself the goal of being able to run a marathon in 3 months. Instead, set the goal that in six months you will be able to run 5km in a row. Have you never exercised before and is your resolution to go to the gym 5 times a week? Start with 2 times a week. It's better to start a little smaller and stick with it, than to aim high and quit after 2 months.

  1. Share your resolutions

Sharing your resolutions with friends and family is a great idea. Not only can they motivate you to achieve your goal, but with a bit of luck you'll find someone with the same resolutions and you can start working together!

  1. Treat yourself!

Are you well on your way? Then reward yourself! For example with a cool new sports outfit, new running shoes or good earplugs.

  1. Keep track of your progress

Because seeing your hard work pay off is the best motivation of all to keep going! So step on the scale, take pictures of yourself, grab the tape measure or try on those pants that were actually too tight but you didn't want to throw them away 'cause one day I'll fit into them again.

  1. Repackage yourself

Are you in a depression and did you let go of your resolutions? It can happen! Do not see this as failure but accept that the road to your goal comes with ups and downs. The trick is to pick yourself up again. Yes, it's a shame that a few weeks have not gone as you had planned. But you know what really would be a shame? That you lose everything you've achieved by throwing in the towel now! So pick yourself up and you'll see that your motivation will soon be back.

Here's to a sporty 2021, good luck!
